LNAREFOUNDATION
ABOUT US

LNare Foundation (also known as LNF) is a registered non-profit organization registered under the social number 150-928NPO. The organization was founded in 2015 by founder Lebogang Nare alongside a few other friends with the stern intention of empowering learners from townships within South Africa and to ensure that various children within the different life paths and journey have a bright future.
The name foundation aims “to build each other up”, and as an organization we are dedicated and committed to living up to our name.
Although South Africa allocates large portions of its budget to education, the quality of its primary education is ranked very low globally. For example, in the World Economic Forum’s 2016-17 Global Competitiveness Report, South Africa’s sub-indicator for quality of primary education is near 126th out of 138 countries.
According to PIRLS 2016, about 78% of Grade 4 learners in South Africa are unable to read for meaning (i.e. below the lowest internationally benchmark reading level).
Around 40-50% of learners who begin in Grade 1 do not reach Grade 12 within the expected 12 years. In more recent data, only about 57% of youths complete Grade 12.
In addition, for a massive number of children, lack of proper school shoes is a compounding problem: over 7 million learners have been reported as without school shoes, many walking long distances in worn or poorly fitting footwear.
